According to EUPD Research's executive study "Unlocking Fleet Electrification: How Intelligent Charging Infrastructure Overcomes Grid Bottlenecks", Germany's EV market is recovering after taking a hit. In 2024, new BEV registrations fell 27.4%, due to the Umweltbonus subsidy ending, with private buyers bearing the brunt of it. While commercial BEV registrations declined as well, their total BEV market share actually increased from 57.4% to 64.0%. Registrations rebounded by 43.2% in 2025, and by a further 40.9% year-on-year in the first five months of 2026. Germany's BEV market share climbed from 13.5% in 2024 to 23.9% by May 2026. | |
